We had the opportunity to chat with Mike Brown, Tour Commissioner of The Cactus Tour to discuss how he’s growing the women’s game. This tour has been operating for 6 years and is a very viable option for players in several different categories. It’s great for players out of college to test themselves in a different arena on the professional level playing for money. As with most mini tours you may look at it as your own money, but its always better to look at these tournaments as the glass is half full, in that you’re playing for the rest of the fields money. It’s kind of like you have a private match with the rest of the field. It’s also a great place for players without status on the Futures Tour or LPGA to sharpen up their game for qualifying schools, Monday qualifying or test themselves against some other LPGA tour professionals. One thing is for certain it’s really important for players to “learn” how to WIN. This tour certainly provides for that opportunity. I would encourage any women seeking or already participating in golf at this level or hoping to in the future to take the opportunity to help grow the game. There is a platform here, take advantage of it, the more players that participate the bigger the purse and notoriety for women’s golf. Establish yourself as a winner on this tour and work your way to “Living The Dream” as we golfer’s like to say.
“The Crew” Let me give you a little brief overview of how this team came together. One of my first followers I communicated with on Twitter was @JohnGrahamGolf and while he was scheduled to appear, he unfortunately couldn’t commit as he was out-of-town. In meeting John that led to others such as @golfgurutv (aka: Jason Sutton). In 2010 I travelled down to Georgia to unwind my season and visit friends and on the way back I contacted Jason Sutton to see if we could get together and before you knew it I had my first twitter meet up with Jason Sutton at the Dana Rader Golf School in Charlotte, NC and we hit it off great, shot some video on for his TV show, had lunch at the club talked a little golf and about our career direction and the rest is history as we’re now very good friends. We then all got to meet up at the PGA Show in Orlando last January where I booked my first AimPoint clinic with John Graham and then got to meet more great people @Sara_PGA (Sara Dickson) , @DennisSalesGolf and @KIRKOGURI at the first Golf Pro Tweet Up where we had over 30 Twitter Golf professionals from all over the world in one place. We had some additions that I have only conversed with on twitter and skype @GolfProRob (Rob McGill) and @andrewmarrgolf (Andrew Marr) but I’m sure we will meet up soon and this is how Social Media formed the #MasterMindCrew Special thanks to John Graham for writing a great story on his blog regarding this project.
“The Concept” While cooking dinner one night I heard the Golf Channel’s promo for their academy show come on television and the idea immediately popped in my head to present this model on a social media platform. I chose twitter as I’ve met some tremendous individuals through this wonderful resource we have available to us. Soon after the emails were flying and it all came together quite quickly with everyone’s co-operation, which is very easy when you’re dealing with professional individuals that know what they’re doing. After getting everybody on board it was time to get some promotion going, so 2 weeks out from Day 1, I produced 2 movie trailers and we launched them on YouTube. The #7nightsatthetwitteracdemy had twee’d off. We all tweeted the promotion until the official launch of the first episode of the first ever online Social Media Golf Academy. Pioneers and Innovators of Golf Instruction on Social Media? We’ll soon see.
“Goals & Objectives” Well, it’s very difficult to project or forecast an outcome of a newly developed project, but if we got a 1000 views and engaged a few new people on a social media platform that would be considered a success. Here are a couple of other things we had hopes for with the project:
to provide knowledge to golfers in a different environment using a social media platform as the medium of interaction
to #learn from some outstanding PGA of America and PGA of Canada professionals from across North America that you may not have access to otherwise
try and stimulate, converse, engage and interact with golfers or other industry professionals looking to #learn or build professional relationships with them
to educate and showcase our ongoing talent development as coaches with golfers and professionals across this Social Media platform (golf is a lifelong journey to #learning)
to measure the power of Social Media; provide comment feedback and real viewing data that Social Media has value and can provide a ROI in regards to what you can do with it if you use it to your advantage
“The Next Step” We look forward to forging ahead with another series of 7 Nights At The Twitter Academy. We may even provide a poll on our blogs in the future to engage you for the show content. The options are endless when it comes to Social Media, we look forward to bringing you solid, factual, truthful information that will benefit you and/or your golf game. If you get one piece of new information or a new concept you’ve learned something.

I was fortunate enough to have two great players appear on my Tip It Up Golf Talk Radio Show. We ran a few questions by them in regards to their year and upcoming schedules and how they’ve gotten where they are today. We also had a great time playing a little “Action 9″ with some non related golf questions. Check out the show.

It’s a great honour to have been asked to contribute my opinion by Canada’s legendary golf writer Mr. Lorne Rubenstein. I sincerely appreciated the opportunity to sit down with Lorne to discuss Tiger’s Swing and where the golf industry is at along with other golf related topics.

I recently had Todd Sones one of America’s Top 100 Instructors and one of the 50 Greatest Teachers on my Tip It Up Golf Talk Radio Show. We ran a few questions by him in regards to set up and stroke mechanics. We also discussed his new company and line of custom fit putters by Coutour Golf, chatted about his scoring zone schools and we had a little fun playing a little “action nine” of quick questions based on current golf world issues and of course sports teams that relate to his home base in the Chicago area. Check out the show below and let us know your thoughts and please follow the radio show or search for it on iTunes.

With the help of Golf Digest’s 30 International affiliates and other golf administrators, they have assembled the following list of leading golf instructors outside America. It’s not a formal ranking and is meant only to recognize those who are making a major impact as teachers in their respective countries.
It’s a great honour to be listed in this publication, perhaps one day in the near future I will grace the cover, at least that’s one of the goals. I will strive for the Top 50 as I continue to develop my stable of players and build my brand as a world renowned Instructor. I look forward to bringing you more videos, articles, tv and radio shows. Thank you to the PGA of Canada, the PGA of Ontario all of my peers, friends and family for their support over the years.

Please check out the latest article in Florida Golf Central Magazine. There’s a fantastic piece on the Golf Academy of America where I learned, developed and moulded my skills that put me on the right path to my golf career. There is no question that the academy was the foundation for my success in the golf industry. I would highly recommend that if you would like to enter the golf industry that you attend one of their four campuses around the country. http://www.golfacademy.edu/ If you work hard, set some goals and work towards them there’s no telling what you can do. You may even become a National Teacher of the Year? ”The goal in life is victory.” ~ Greg Norman So, what are you waiting for? Go out and get your win and start it with a solid education by some of the best instructors and educators in the business at the Golf Academy of America.
